Sydney's new 'pick-up' board

Check out the pic of Sydney’s new trial system of sorting out games for pick-up sessions. The idea is to help out new players without mallets and reduce ‘doubling-up’ of some one using more than one mallet to sneak a few extra games in. Each player that comes down has a paddle-pop stick and magnet. Sticks are drawn out randomly for each team, then each game is easily posted up on a magnetic board for everyone to see. Easy to see your place with with 4 games back-to-back! Supplies purchase from the local stationary store for under $25 and it easily fits in a bag!

Winter Whack 3 Dates Announced

For those looking at what’s next after Sydney’s tournament in February and Perth’s Australasian Championships in March, then here’s your answer! Winter Whack iii is Christchurch’s main event on the polo calendar with last years considered by many as the best tournament in Oz and NZ that year.

Craig and the Christchurch players have nailed in the date of the 1st and 2nd of June, but kicking off with Friday Night Knife Fights at 8pm. This will be the Queens Birthday weekend in NZ so there will be an additional day on top of the usual line-up! There are still more details to announce in the near future, but keep checking Christchurch’s site for the latest.

Registration for ‘Cirque du Sydney’

Sydney’s upcoming tournament ‘Cirque du Sydney’ on the 25/26th of February will be open from this coming Tuesday the 10th of January at 8pm! The double header weekend will include a team tournament on the first day, with a relaxed individual Mix-Up Tournament on the second. Head over to the tournament page on Sydney’s website for more information.

REGISTRATION: We will be accepting registrations for the teamed “Carney Carnage” tournament via email. Registrations for the second day throw up tournament “Sideshow Slaughter” will be taken on the day. Oh, did we forget to mention that the entire tournament will be FREE?!?! We will have a donations box on the day with all funds to go to Perth Cycle Polo to help in hosting the Australasian Championships.

Day 2

Day 2 has finished with a bang! Some incredible matches, games being won by a small margin, and some 10 minute games being taken to full time, extra 10 minute time, and shotgun finals (footdown = out)

Thank you to everyone for coming down and making this such a great weekend, especially our friends from Brisbane and Adelaide who kicked some ass in a big way

There were a few injuries – Steve rolled his ankle, Sammy P cramped his shooting hand and Will caught something in his eye

Finally, on to the scores

First place has been taken all the way to Adelaide with Noblemen defeating Lewd 3 – 1 in an epic final. It should be noted that for the final game, noblemen had 2/3 players subbed due to injuries. Andrew fourth remained in, with Colin and Vive subbing in for Sammy P and Steve respectively.

Lewd had gone undefeated all day in the winners bracket until the final, and noblemen won their way back from the losers bracket

1st) Noblemen (ADL: Steve, Sammy P, Andrew)

2nd) Lewd (MEL: Damon, Leigh, Will)

3rd) Hans Polo (MEL/SCOTLAND/ADL:Ray, Gav, Daisuke)

4th) Testicles (MEL/USA: Bart, Chris, James)

Cirque Du Sydney: Tournament Poster

Sydney is pleased to announce dates for our next tournament to be held on the weekend of February 25+26th, 2012. It will be over an entire weekend (and maybe a surprise for Friday night) and feature a team tournament on the first day, then a throw-up tournament the following day to loosen up and kick back with all our polo buddies.

We will be releasing more information over the next couple of weeks on format, setup, events and other details. We are super excited and have some great ideas to make this an epic weekend to remember!
