As most of us regularly watch Totally Wild on Channel 10 it comes as no surprise that this friday’s episode features a segment on the Australian Hardcourt Bike Polo Championships that were held in Melbourne last November.

Bike polo is a friendly but competitive semi-contact sport (You might come home with a few new bruises and a broken spoke.).  Unlike your local footy or netball club, bike polo has no formal organisation or league.

Bike polo is open to everyone. We hold sessions for new players to ease you in and get you rolling around the court.  Come along and we’ll help you get started.

We play on all kinds of bikes, from single speed, fixed and geared, mountain bikes and road bikes.  Most people start out on their normal street bikes, and most regular players are happy to lend their bikes to you.  Bring whatever you have at home and see what you think.

Mallets and everything else you’ll need are also available.  We regularly hold mallet making workshops courtside in between games, so we can help you build your own custom mallet.

Bike Polo in played weekly in many cities. Next sessions including Adelaide, Brisbane, Perth, Frankston, Castlemaine and Albury-Wodonga are listed on the right hand side of the main page.

We recently held the first Australian Hardcourt Bike Polo Championships in November 2009. Some of the best photos of the 2 day Championships can be found here .

In the near future, the front page and city pages will be updated to reflect the newest news from each city. The side panel will show future dates for all Australian cities, and courts information will be added for all cities, showing you where each city plays along with court stats, conditions and photos.
