Here is the word from Joel on the first Melbourne Bike Polo League (League 01)
This is the official invite to an idea that has been bubbling for a while now.
I was part of starting a London League in 09 to keep people playing through shitty conditions in the UK winter. The weather aint half as bad here so everyone should be jumping at the chance to get in good competitive regular games. We will work these around the court/s usable times we have and we should be able to fit a few league games in between pickup on Sundays, or alternatively play league at the cage.
We will work out the fixtures once we have teams and generally teams will have two weeks or so to work out between them when to face off.
What we (Me, Rob M, and AJ so far) suggest is that we get as many team to reg as possible. In London it worked really well for newer players to be ‘thrust into it’ so to speak and it helped their game no end so newby teams are more than welcome.
AJ has the tournament software to run an 8 (Could be more?) team RR tourney with online stats and things which would make things really easy, and Rob has opened up
registration on bikepolo.com.au/register
Basically, find three people. Come up with a suitable silly name and let the fun begin!
Let battle commence.
