Melbourne: Northcote Sundays or Princes Hill Saturdays?

Hey Guys, seems like the school is out of action for the next 10 weeks or so due to some brickwork happening on Sundays

Would you like to
a) play at the School on Saturdays,
b) play at Northcote on Sundays              c) play at Northcote Saturdays & sundays

Northcote is lots of fun, we can enjoy some refreshing beverages without any fuss, but the court is a bit rough with no edges at the moment

The school is the school as we know it, but we may later be restricted on Saturdays to after 1pm when school is back in as there is a Victorian School of Language (VSL) which use the court till 1pm on Saturdays

as the brickwork is slightly dangerous due to the large amount of rubble still there from the constant work on sundays, it is more of a liability issue for the for the school and the workers if something was happen..

Please drop a comment here or on the Bike Polo mailing list!

if you`re not on the list and would like to find out where we are playing any given day you can contact william @ jetnikoffbikeco@gmail.com or phone him on 0416520730

New Venue: Flagstaff Gardens

Flagstaff multipurpose court

Soft smooth “Plexipave ” surface, loads of grip, it’s like paint mixed with sand.. Just like the green bike lanes on roads.

The courts are huge, two full size Netball courts side by side. We could play two matches at once, come the Tournament!

Panorama of the court

Photos of the surface and play area are here

Down to business.  The courts will be available to us on Sundays from 3pm – 10pm on Sunday May 17th for 4 weeks. This wiill give us an opportunity to test out the courts surface and see if they work for us and to ensure the court stays in good condition. The floodlights are are also available.  We will have keys to the lockaway shed to store our stuff (cones etc). Perfect!

The area has the following features
- Floodlights and electricity
- Flagstaff train station
- Vic markets (yummy food on sundays)
- Seats in and around the courts
- Toilets!!
- Lots and lots of rubbish/recycling bins
- Picnic tables
- Kids (and Charles’s) play area
- BBQ facilities
- Bowling club diner/bar, should be serving alcohol when the bowls club meet (more for our Tournaments as we BYO)

We are negotiating the price, but between $3-5 per person should cover it.  We hope to reduce this to a Gold Coin donation if numbers are up!

There are some fairly simple conditions
As we are sharing the court with others playing Netball and Tennis, we need to be careful not to mark the surface too much.
- Be a little more careful when using our mallets against the ground, it may leave a mark.
- Try not to do too many long skids, and if there are some skids on the ground then we can sweep them off with a broom from the clubhouse.  If you are a skid fiend, consider getting a blue or white rear tyre.
- Mallets will need to be checked to make sure that there are no protruding screws or bolts.

Northcote Relocation: Until the end of April

Due to many many exhibition on at the Royal Exhibition over March and April we’re semi-permanently relocating to Northcote until the end of April.

A few recent working bees have tidied up the court added edging, so the court should be much better to play on now.

Make sure you come along for all the fun, spills, broken mallets, BBQs and more. As usual, play is from 2pm.
