These guys started with a ready to go 7075 shaft (which are awesome!), and now offer a range of their own polo related apparel and distribute some other polo gear such as Franklin gloves and balls.

There recent offering is a new colour range of their mallet-holding Top Tube Polo Pads.

Also just leaked is a sneak peak of their V2 wheel covers. New material looks intriguing. I know of a few people looking for something lighter and stronger than chloroplast. This could be it?!

It seemed it was only a matter of time before bike polo became mainstream enough for gear to be made with them in mind. Although it seems hard for the home-made culture to be over-run, the Milwaukee-based Eighth-Inch (who have already cornered a polo market for their frame) have produced a mallet head.

Using the same HDPE as the sought after gas pipes, these seem to be pretty well designed. The main advantage I see here is the integration of end caps (replacements available) that can work with a variation of head lengths. They come in 150mm lengths and can be cut down to 140 or 130 while still being able to mount the end caps on one or both sides. They also seem to have a mid support sleeve for the shaft for additional strength.

I guess the potential flaws I can see at this stage is the set mallet head diameter, the shaft diameter set at 19mm, and the re-drilling fo end caps when shortened down to 140 or 130mm. Oh, and to get to australia it’ll probably end up around the $30 or $40 mark.

New Yabusame prototype frame out of Japan.

Some cool features including: cut out in back of seat tube to achieve super short wheel base, v brake mounts under the seat stays to protect your brakes, looooong drop outs for drastic gearing changes.

Not totally sure about all the frame cut outs. But this just a protype, so we’ll see how it holds up.

meanwhile, Will managed to score a goal from behind his own goalposts, with a fine rebound off the gutter. lucky for eveyone, Sam hooked Will’s arm and escorted him out of play for a bit… when Sam perfects this manouveur I reckon we’re all in trouble!
