We are looking to create a Bike Polo specific forum which everyone can use
Buying / Selling parts
Discussing rules, courts, building edging / boards, mallets, scoring, ladders
Organisation and running of tournaments
Reviews of polo equipment
This poll will close at midnight on Tuesday the 7th September
[poll id="2"]
When will the poll close?
>Discussing rules, courts, building edging / boards, mallets, scoring, ladders
>Organisation and running of tournaments
>Reviews of polo equipment
All these are best found at leagueofbikepolo.com no point re-inventing the wheel.
This would be great to get Australia together!
I’d like to see separate sections for each city and a section for national stuff as well as a calendar of upcoming tournaments (linked with this site of course)
The poll options above seem fairly limited.
We need to make sure we don’t lose all the people who only use e-mail and sms.
I voted for locally but after thinking about it I would like to change my vote to leagueofbikepolo.com
I agree with Damon that there is no point re-inventing the wheel especially in relation to equipment discussions, mallets, edgeing etc.
I thought we wanted to bring Australian polo closer to the World not keep it apart???
Australasian people already read and contribute to, have profile and pics set up too at LOBP. We advertise tournaments there also. There is a lot of info there that can be referred to. I agree with Damon on that one in regards to reinventing the wheel. Hosted locally is seems ‘nice’, but does it give us any other advantage?
Basically re-iterating what everyone has said above, but I agree with using leagueofbikepolo.com for the following reasons;
We should be playing with the worlds rules, so any rules discussions should be going to the larger community.
There is already a strong and active community there and a wealth of knowledge on rules/equipment/tournaments etc and if we setup our own forums we’d be losing a lot of this.
We can still create sub forums/threads for state/national tournaments.
So in short, we’re not losing anything by having it on lobp, but we’re gaining the experience from the existing community there.
The poll will close at midnight Tuesday 7th September
Virginia I have updated your vote
The forum areas above are an example. The exact forum areas will be decided by the wider community
hey all, Damon let me know about this thread.
i’ve also talked a bit with Rob. Just wanted to throw out there that i’d be happy to put in some extra work to ensure that an Australian sub-forum on leagueofbikepolo.com has all the features you need. Perhaps some of its own design elements too. Each sub-forum (aka “region”) can have a number of moderators, so we could set it up with a moderator from each city, or however you all see fit. Moderators don’t have a ton of power.
meanwhile, yer mate Lewis is tearing it up here in Toronto, and has a good team for the NSPI this upcoming weekend. Hope to meet more of you soon.

Shouldn’t the poll be extended to after the nationals. People that don’t read this site (Due to being irrelevant to us over here in Xanadu) who maybe affected by national decisions, can then be asked in person. If a locally hosted forum is the decision how and who will Moderate? Kevin’s vision seems quite sound.
One other note… i came up with “Australasia” as a region for LOBP. it might make more sense to separate East Asia from Australia/NZ. Ideas?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Australasia
Australasia is a region of Oceania: Australia, New Zealand, the island of New Guinea, and neighbouring islands in the Pacific Ocean.
Asia (China/Japan/Malaysia etc) is considered separate.
Honestly, why are we even considering having a new forum? Most of what we discuss can be found/posted on the LOBP site and the rest can be discussed in the ways in which we do now. A new forum is yet another site to navigate to, make a user name, remember a password etc, etc. I find the having the google group discussion sent to my email way more convenient and a heck of a lot easier.
I actually initially voted for a local forum on .com.au, but after thinking about and reading comments i think either lobp and/or an open, visible and accessible email list would work best.
uh, ya, ignore my comment #8, i had it right from the beginning, Australasia and East Asia are indeed already separate on LOBP.
Updated your vote Lewis
